Where Do I Come From?

Where do I come from? That can be a loaded question that needs to be broken down. On the family aspect, I come from a family of four where I am the youngest of two daughters. I grew up with a yellow lab named Belle and incredibly supportive parents.

From a professional point of view, I was a pastry chef who was trained in New York at the Culinary Institute of America with a classical French background where I excelled at making individual pastries. I did an externship working as a pastry chef at a high end restaurant in South Carolina before transitioning to working at a high volume kitchen. I spent a year there while trying to figure out what my next step was going to be as working as a line cook wasn’t where my heart belonged.

From an introspective aspect, I am a person who loves deeply. I thrive on the positive emotions of others and I work hard to make sure that people know that someone cares. The best part of being a pastry chef was watching people’s faces light up when they taste something delicious. I knew that my life was meant to do more than baking pastries. I wanted to enter a career where I could make a difference in the lives of others.

So, I guess I answered the question of where I come from. As humans, we vary so much from our experiences and our lives lived before the present. Each step is another chapter in our storybook which ultimately shapes where we are going.

Thank you for tuning in for the first installment of where I come from.
